British Citizenship
British citizenship gives you the right to live and work in the UK permanently, without any immigration restrictions. There are a number of grounds under which someone may be eligible to apply for British citizenship; the most common of which are:

Have lived in the UK for 5 years and hold ILR

Born in the UK before 1 January 1983

Born in the UK to a British or settled parent

Born outside the UK to a parent who is British otherwise than by descent

Born outside the UK to a grandparent who is British otherwise than by descent and a parent resided in the UK for at least 3 years

Born in the UK and resided there from birth until at least the age of 10

Born outside the UK to a British parent who was not able to pass on their citizenship owing to gender or historical discrimination

Adopted by British citizens
